Saving the Planet....one light bulb at a time

Holy cow! I just got this email from my Grandma and was a bit shocked. Since the world is going "Green", I thought I would do my part to help the environment by buying those funny looking light bulbs. Yes, they are more expensive, but they last for 7 years {or something like that}. So, it's worth it right? In fact, as we put up the electrical stuff in the basement, that's the only kind of bulb we used. {Mostly because I didn't want to have to deal with changing light bulbs frequently because I am L-A-Z-Y}

We accidentally broke one of them in the process {By "we", I mean the electrician}. At the time I was thinking "Ah! $5 down the drain!" And now I'm just glad I'm not dead.....

Watch and learn....yes, it is a couple of minutes long...and yes, it's CSPAN....but the guy is funny too. Watch the guy sitting behind him as he tries to keep a straight face. :0)

We use the CFL bulbs. We're just suuuper careful not to break them... I don't like the legislation about the light bulbs though. I can't spank my child under 3, I'm required to use a chinese light bulb... mmm... yeah. next thing you know white bread is going to be banned too. Just too much legislation for me.

I broke one before I knew about the mercury and then I broke another one after I found out about the mercury. The second one I broke I made Zach come and clean it up after learning about all of the proper disposal techniques. I have not bought any of those bulbs since with my pregnant butterfingers!!

I know - they are going to have to something about these bulbs - make them of some different kind of glass - so scary!

Have a good day - Kellan
