Moulin Rouge

The hubby and I just watched this movie again the other night and honestly, I just can't get enough of it. I LOVE THIS MOVIE. I know it's not for everyone.....and it's a musical.....but really....it's awesome.

These are two of my favorite songs from the movie.

Anyway...just thought I'd share...

Benjamin Button

I went and saw this movie tonight and I really enjoyed it. Would you like to know why? Because dear Benjamin Button shared some warm and fuzzy deep thoughts with me. So, I thought I'd share....

"Your life is defined by its opportunities... even the ones you miss."

"Along the way you bump into people who make a dent on your life."

"It's a funny thing about comin' home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you. "

"Sometimes we're on a collision course, and we just don't know it. Whether it's by accident or by design, there's not a thing we can do about it. "

"For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again."

"Benjamin, we're meant to lose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us?"

"Life isn't measured in minutes, but in moments"

See? didn't I tell you? Good thoughts.....deep thoughts.....insightful thoughts.....
No, this movie isn't for everyone. Yes, this movie was really three hours long. BUT! In the end I left the theatre feeling GOOD. Why? Because Benjamin reminded me that sometimes life can SUCK. And sometimes life is AWESOME! What is important to remember, is that it is up to us to decide if we are going to let the bad things in life change US. We are going to screw up, but it's up to us to learn and grow from our experiences so we can be better tomorrow.
No one is perfect....
We shouldn't expect ourselves to be.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Yes, that's right...you heard me. I am one year older...Sigh.

So, I thought in honor of my special day I would share with you a couple of my favorite movies. Why? Because sharing is caring...and though on birthday's it's usually the day to RECEIVE gifts...I'm going to share these precious gems with all of you. Because.......

I care. :0)

This first one is Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. I first watched this movie when I was a freshman at Utah State. I laughed so hard at these girls. And honestly...just getting out of high school...I saw a little of my high school self in these girls. Sad, huh?

My ultimate favorite movie is the Wedding Singer. Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore do a fabulous job in this together. And seriously...it's full of 80s songs. How could I not love it?

Have a fun weekend!

Movie Flashback!

So, much to Jaysen's frustration I have been on a flashback tour of some of my old favorite movies. With the writers strike going on...there's nothing on tv, and so in the evenings I find myself trying to find things to do (besides the things I SHOULD be doing. There are always PLENTY of things to do, but I take the evenings off. Seriously, you should try it!) Anyway, Netflix has been shipping us some great 80s movies lately. I've been filling my queue with some great movie memories. So, I thought I would share some of my favorites with you for your viewing enjoyment.

16 Candles
Adventures in Babysitting
Back to the Future (Great Scott!)
Beetlejuice
Big
Breakfast Club
The Burbs
D.A.R.Y.L.
Dead Poets Society
Desperately Seeking Susan

Happy Smurfday!

La, la, la la la la
La, la la la la.....
Do you remember the smurfs? I LOVED watching the smurfs. Papa Smurf, Brainy Smurf, Smurfette, and mean old Gargamel...they made my Saturday mornings! Well, apparently they just turned 50! Holy cow! It seems they were actually a comic first before becoming hugely popular in the 80s with their tv series. Because of this, their company has decided it's time to re-introduce them to the world. Late next year a Smurf movie will be released, and then hopefully 26 new 30 minute episodes for our kiddies to watch. The characters will be updated, and more girls added to the little mushroom house community. So, it will be interesting to see what they come up with. But, I think it's just Smurfy! Much better than most of the cartoons that they've got on tv nowadays don't you think?

Movie Mania

Holy cow! There are so many good looking movies out right now I want to spend a day at the theater so that I can watch them all. My bum might end up sore...but hey...

I have heard so much about August Rush. Several of my family members have gone to see it and said it was WONDERFUL. So, it's one of those at the top of my list.

Then there is Enchanted. This one just looks super cute. My sister in law, Holly, took her kids to see a few weeks ago and said it was such a good movie, and even her 6 year old son liked it. Landon laughs every time he sees the commercial because the guy gets run over by some bicycles. Boys....sigh. ;0)

I Am Legend looks to be an interesting flick. Great reviews...Will Smith...though I'm not sure about the "creatures" in the film. This is one that Jaysen wants to see too, so I'm sure it will be the one that we actually get to go to. ;0)

Landon is dying to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. I remember Alvin from back in the good old days. I watched the Saturday morning cartoon religiously. It was good stuff! My sister, Melanie, took her kids to see this one last week and said it was really cute. So, maybe over Christmas break we'll get to this one.

And though I know this one has been out for a while, I'd still like to squeeze in Dan in Real Life. It looks cute, but also like you'd get a great laugh out of it.

Quite the list huh? And guess what? I probably won't make it to any of them. Pre-Mackenzee we went out to movies ALL the time. But now...by the time you pay for a babysitter, movie tickets, popcorn and a soda...you're out $40. For a movie. So, it better be a pretty dang good movie right? Besides this fact, we are just lame and don't go out anymore. So, these movies will probably not get viewed until Netflix puts them in our mailbox. They are already on my "saved" list. Just in case.....

A New Age Has Begun

That's the tag line for this one. Just read on my Yahoo! home page that the next installment of the Narnia series will be out next May. Though I did read the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, I haven't ever read this one. Sad, I know. For those of you like me, you can read about the plotline here.
Once again, it seems there will be another epic battle between good and evil. I did enjoy the movie version of the first book, so I assume I will end up seeing this one as well. I guess I better get a copy of the book so that I can brush up on my Narnia!
