Walk For Babies

For those of you that don't read my family blog, you don't know that my SIL gave birth to a premature baby boy. He had some serious complications and was in the NICU for several weeks. Just this last weekend he was allowed to go home, though he is still on oxygen and hooked up to breathing monitors.

Sister Sassy did a walk for babies this last weekend and was able to raise money for this fabulous cause. So, in light of recent events, I decided to walk for the cause too! On the side bar of my blog is a link to my website. As my website explains, the money I raise for March for Babies will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy that help babies get a healthy start. The March of Dimes sees to the needs of moms and babies in our communities across the nation. What could be a better cause?

If you feel so inclined, please donate to the cause. I wouldn't ask if I didn't feel strongly about it. Just click on the link I've provided to the side of my blog here with the cute picture of a baby on it. You can donate money from there! :0) I've read several blogs where mothers have had babies prematurely, or with medical conditions and can only imagine the frustration and sadness they feel when their babies are put into the NICU. The stress involved would be intolerable.

If you are a local friend of mine, I'd love to have you join me in the walk! It's on June 14 {a Saturday} at 10:00 in the morning. We meet downtown and start the 6 mile walk from there. Go to http://www.walkforbabies.org/ to sign up. Not only would we be walking for a cause, but we'd have a great time doing it together. And think of the calories we'd burn in the process! :0) Everyone benefits right?

From a mom who had healthy babies and was grateful every day for it, I say,

Good luck, and may you raise loads of money.

My preemie niece is now ... 30? and totally normal in every way. She was THREE MONTHS EARLY so I totally "get" what it's like to go through the ups and downs of every single ounce gained, lost, not breathing on their own. ... it's tough on a mom. My own little guy wast not a preemie, but he was in the NICU for a week after his birth. That was enough worrying for me!
Wish I were in Idaho Falls! I'd totally walk with you.
Hope you raise lots of money!

I wish I was there to walk with you and to hold Jeremy and to help Steve and Beckie. It is hard being so far away. Best of luck on your walk.
