Just for clarification.....

There are a lot of posts out there about the FLDS faith and what happened to them. I don't know if any of you have actually read those posts or not. If, for any reason, any of you are curious or wondering.....let me guide you to a couple of GOOD ones. :0)
This one explains our frustration as women of the LDS faith {notice that LDS is different from FLDS} For those of you unaware of what LDS means, it stand for Latter Day Saint. FLDS means Fundamentalist Latter Day Saint. They left our church in the 1930s because we refused to allow the practice of polygamy. {Source: Wikipedia} "The FLDS Church and the LDS Church are distinct and separate religious denominations, having no official ties or connections."
This one is my favorite so far. We, as members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, are not freaks. {Much to the surprise of many :0) } AND, we do not practice the same faith as those portrayed in the news.
Now, on a different note here...I do want to say that my heart goes out to all the innocent involved. I can only imagine the fear that the children are feeling as they have been taken away from the only lives they have ever known. My heart hurts for these children. They are the innocent in all of this.
Anyway...just thought I would share these blog posts with you. I usually don't get too religious or political in my blog. But, this was something I felt should be passed on. Too many people have too many questions about a connection that does not exist between the FLDS and LDS faiths.
Have a happy Sunday!

Yes, those were both great posts. Polygamy sure causes quite a stir.

Honey Bunch- for more info about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints you can go to www.lds.org. On the left side of the screen is a link that says "About the Church". Click on that and you will be led to pages that should answer most of your questions. www.Mormon.org is another great website. Hope those sites help to answer any of your questions. If you have specific ones for me to answer....shoot away. I'll do my best. :0)

I too feel so bad for those poor children. Makes ya just want to hug them all, and try to make it all better.

This is a heartbreaking saga. Tonight on the news there were pictures of a compound where the mothers and children are staying. Cots are set up next to each other, and the kids are bored, miserable, and confused. The solution seems worse than the problem.

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I love to know who's reading!

Thanks for sharing the info--the media definitely doesn't do an adequate job of distinguishing between the two...

What great blog sites. I think these were very helpful in destinguishing the two. Good job Ashlee.

That whole situation is horrible. Like you said those poor kids. They have already been brain washed and gone though so much it will affect them their whole life.

Great job on the clarification.

Great idea Ashlee! This kind of news story is exactly the sort of thing my in-laws don't need to see because the media doesn't distinguish well. I feel so bad for the kids. They must be so confused and unhappy.

The entire situation has definitely caused me some distress. I think I have vented my frustrations to Stephen on several commutes home. These poor children...and really women for that matter...and the boys that are growing to be men trained to continue the cycle. It is all a huge mess. There is obvious physical abuse effects that have been discussed in the media, but the psychological distress that they must be facing makes me want to scream. They are unable to truly make a sound decision because of the mental anguish they have suffered for years. They do not know what "normal" is. Okay, I'll be quiet because I could write a 50 page dissertation about this topic. The leaders of this organization are just plain EVIL. There is no other word to describe individuals that would inflict this sort of suffering on innocent victims...and desire such absolute control. I definitely have in my angry eyes for them!

I got a comment last night on my blog telling me that Mr. Anonymous doesn't like my religion because we have sex with little girls.

Obviously Mr. Anonymous has a little more research to do on the topic. Sigh.
