An Attitude of Gratitude

So...it's been pretty stressful around these parts lately. A lot of STUFF that makes life always a little more interesting. I hate when things start to pile up that I end up having a little pity party for myself. What is truly sad, is that I'm sitting here reflecting on all of my CRAP, and then I read a couple of other blogs and realize my problems are NOTHING. AT ALL.

I'm reminded of this song that I absolutely love. I love how music can do that by the way. Take you out of your funk I mean. Anyway, the song is So Small by Carrie Underwood. Read the lyrics ....

Sometimes that mountain you've been climbing

Is just a grain of sand

What you've been out there searching for forever

Is in your hands

When you figure out love is all that matters after all

It sure makes everything else

Seem So Small

Yeah....So, today I'm trying to remember what I've got. My mountain is just a grain of sand, and look at what I've got to help me get over it! I'm grateful for.....

Jaysen....for being my Prince Charming. For being my built in best friend. For loving me unconditionally even with all of my flaws. {there are a lot of them} For listening to my rantings and ravings and not rolling his eyes at me. :0) For working hard so that I can be a mommy and accomplish the other goals I'm working towards right now. I don't know that I could work and do everything else I've got going on right now. For supporting me in my crazy new plans.

Landon....for his kind heart. For always knowing when to give me a hug {even though sometimes he's hoping to get something in return...} For being such a good big brother to his sister even though she pesters him relentlessly. That's not an easy job...I know...she pesters me too. :0)
Kenzee...for her innocence and for her complete enjoyment of life. She loves every minute of every day and she charges forward into everything with NO FEAR. Such a good example to her mommy. She makes me laugh. She is so silly.
I really wanted to be able to say that I was grateful for the warm weather we've been having, but it snowed this morning....BUT I'm grateful the snow isn't sticking...and I can still hear the little birdies outside meaning Spring will soon be here.
I'm grateful for faith, and friends, and oodles of family, and my sanity :0), for my home with the soon to be done {keep your fingers crossed} basement, for music, for knowledge, for giggles from kids, quiet moments, a pantry full of food, for CHOCOLATE, for opportunities, for memories, for love, my education, my blogs {what would I do without them?}, oohh...there's so much more. The list could go on forever. Which is wonderful!
I'm also grateful for my new little widget that got all of you to leave me some love! :0) I had so much fun with that. I do expect you all to keep up with it though.....don't let me down now!
So, what are you grateful for? What do you do to get out of your funks?

Thanks for the wonderful reminder. I had a rough morning, and this is just what I needed to remind myself what really matters. And a diet Dr. Pepper doesn't hurt.

How did I drop to #9 in one day??? hmmm....

Ha! I went from 10 to 6 in about an hour.

I am grateful for perennials that bloom in early spring with no help from me. I am grateful for yard work that gets my hands dirty and my breath short.

I am grateful for the three most adorable children ever created. And that they really love playing with their dad.

I am grateful for the hottest wife ever. And that she is blind. And patient. And she makes awesome children.

Those are the things I think about that make me happy.

There are a couple things I like to read and remember when I'm down:

D&C 122:

If thou art accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can’t you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;

And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?

Alma 26:35:

Now have we not reason to rejoice? Yea, I say unto you, there never were men that had so great reason to rejoice as we, since the world began; yea, and my joy is carried away, even unto boasting in my God; for he has all power, all wisdom, and all understanding; he comprehendeth all things, and he is a merciful Being, even unto salvation, to those who will repent and believe on his name.

I'm grateful for the bible study class I've been taking. It focuses on that stupid mountain. The verse we keep repeating is this one in Matthew:

"..for truly I say to you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you."

I'm also grateful for my bbff Ashlee. :)

Sadly, when I'm in a funk, I tend to gravitate to the non-constructive pity party. And then my kids have to deal with "mom's grouchy, try not to tick her off".

So, first, I'm grateful for people like you and Montay, whose posts today have made me want to be a better person. I'm grateful for family. I'm grateful for my kids, who I don't always like, but I do always love. This list could get pretty long, so let me end with this. I'm thankful for chocolate chip mint ice cream. I've had a bowl daily for the last 3 days!!

I'm grateful for my husband, my friends, and my family! To get out of funks, taking a walk really helps me. I also like to write or call a friend. Or sometimes I put on some fun music and dance my cares away!!

You sure get a lot of comments. I think I leave a lot, but I don't even make the list! Thanks for reminder to always be grateful for the important things in life. I'm reading a great book right now called "These is my Words" by Nancy E. Turner, and it reminds me of how easy I have it. I highly recommend it.
