I Heart My Toes!

A challenge has been issued! I refuse to back down! :0) Go here to see the official post from Kelly. But here's the basic idea....

Take a picture of a part of your body that you have been critical of in the past. Paste that picture on your blog; do it with pride. Tell the world all the reasons you love it.

Why? Because women beat themselves up TOO MUCH. We nit pick ourselves...too big, too tall, too saggy, too curvy...whatever! And we shouldn't. So, to show our "WOMAN PRIDE!" {hear me roar!} Kelly has challenged anyone who comes across this "chain post" to fess up. What have you nit picked about yourself that you will now decide to be proud of? Or...if you have already come to terms with it...tell the story. So, off I go!

To some of you...this may seem like nothing, but I assure you...I shed tears as a teenager over this...
These are my toes. They are long. Especially my second toe. So, to go with my long skinny feet, I get long skinny toes. They are like a second set of fingers. Sigh.

Look at these babies! {are you laughing at me?} Here's why I hated my toes.....

I was called Sasquatch and Big Foot my entire Sophmore year of high school because that's when my feet {or toes} decided to make my size 8 feet jump clear to a size 9. Aren't feet supposed to be done growing by then? Nope. Not mine. It was miserable. I was mocked every day. I stopped wearing sandals. Couldn't show the toes. I changed schools the next year when my family moved, so the teasing stopped. If I did wear sandals, they covered most of my toes. Nobody knew about my alien toes.

Being a teenager is hard enough, especially as a girl. Because there is always another girl that is cuter, or skinnier, or taller, or WHATEVER...just "better" than you. Us girls are HARD on ourselves. We expect perfection from ourselves. Let's face it...it's never going to happen. But, I worried about my toes for years. In college, my roomie loved my toes. I still hated them. It bothered me that she would be so intrigued by them.

Honestly, I don't know when I stopped caring. Maybe when there were other parts of my body that were far more IMperfect than my dumb toes. But, now I show them with pride. I get them dolled up in the summer...I've even worn toe rings on that second LONG toe. Plenty of room there! My favorite shoes are all of my sandals.

Why do I LOVE my toes? They get me THAT much taller when I go to lay a big fat kiss on the hubby. These toes are perfect for my 2 year old to "practice" on when using nail polish. My neices have "practiced" on my toes plenty of times. I get to PINCH people with these babies! {I've done it too!} When I've dropped something that I couldn't {or wouldn't want to} reach with my hands....{like in the pool for instance} I can actually pick them up with my toes. Why do I LOVE my toes? Because they look like my son's toes. He's got them too. Ginormous feet on that kid. Clown feet. {Yeah...I got called that too} It's something we share.

And you know what they say about big feet....

Big feet....

Big HEART!

Cute toenails! Good post too, I took a picture of my hairy legs to post but for another day. I think some extra of people might see your toes today because I'm linking to you!

I am laughing. But with you, not at you. Your toes are cute and you have such nice toe nails. Nice post!

I think your toes look great and I remember one of the first times I talked to you in church was when I was sitting by you shortly after you had had a pedicure and I said, "I love your toes". See it is a connection I will always have with you, because I was so impressed.

How can anyone make fun of your toes??? That's awful. THey look perfectly normal to me although I do have long toes myself.

I have those same toes! and my hubby makes fun of the permanent space between the big toes and it's neighbor because of my life long flip flop addiction! well worth it I say!

THank you all for your comments. Good to know I'm not the only one with alien toes out there. :0) But....where are your posts?

Ok, maybe I'll post my hairy legs for real, or knees. I've always hated my knees and my nose too.

Your toes look just fine! I understand, though - I picked my feet mainly because of my toes, too. I've made my peace. Glad it sounds like you have, too!
